Actions |
|
The combination of Sodium
Selenite and Vitamin E is Anti-inflammatory, a Catalyst in Calcium and Protein
metabolism; and has a role in maintenance of cellular integnty, particularly in
muscle and erythrocytes. |

Indications |
|
Selenium and Vitamin E deficiencies manifested by muscular weakness, stiffness,
poor weight gain, lameness, abortions, retained fetal membranes, pulmonary
distress, stiff limbs, muscle dystrophy syndrome, spondylitis, hip dysphasia and
certain skin conditions. |

Adverse
Reactions |
|
Large intramuscular doses may cause necrosis at injection site. As this
necrosing action appears to be proportional to the dose, multiple injection
sites should be used for doses over 5 ml.
Selenium is potentially toxic.
Do not overdose. In overdosing the following may be seen: anorexia, muscle
weakness, CNS stimulation and later depression, respiratory depression. Chronic
excessive doses bring about pathological changes in heart, spleen, kidney and
pancreas. Side effects include nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal tract
imitation.

Horse: 1 ml/50 kg bodyweight
intramuscularly.
Repeat after 7 to 10 days.
